Ignorance everywhere, I tell you what.
I hope everyone quits acting like everything about strangers is relevant to themselves. Give me rainbow streets and all types of people walking them because it’s a happy fucking picture. Don’t decide that a photo with a presumably heterosexual couple doesn’t make the right kind of political jab here. Maybe instead of focusing on their sex or gender identities at all, you could focus on how fucking cool it is that a city is so down for painting crosswalks for pride and KEEPING THEM… which would eternally connect them to the movement. Which I believe, as happy and fun as it looks, is so much deeper of a political statement than one you would’ve wanted made by this photo. Because it’s literally politics.
FURTHERMORE, that this couple isn’t obnoxious enough about any kind of phobia to avoid using said crosswalks (because let’s face it, you know at least twenty people who would be so appalled that they’d think not using them would change the conversation positively in the phobic direction) and conversely join hands and gaily stroll along with their day.
